Laugh with the Sinners: Get to Know The Wolf of Wall Street

14 May 2014 by Jess

This was a big movie when it came out. It was sexy, funny, terrifying, and unbelievable in many ways. It’s story about a middle class young man who finds out how to be rich and does just about anything and everything to stay that way. But out of all the guff I’d heard prior to […]

Book Your Stay at The Grand Budapest Hotel: Anderson Makes It Well Worth Your While

7 April 2014 by Jess

I’ve been putting off writing about this film because I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to do it justice. I’m still afraid of that, but I figured I better just jump in and run with it or I’ll procrastinate forever. First off, if you’ve seen pretty much any of Wes Anderson’s films, […]

Don’t Let the Story Put You Off: ‘Noah’ Is Too Beautiful to Miss

4 April 2014 by Jess

One of the first things I noted about Noah was that it was not accurate. When I shared this with someone, I was immediately answered with, “Well, OF COURSE it’s not accurate! The story is completely made up!” While I felt my intelligence was a little insulted at that, I suppose I ought to clarify: […]

Review: Veronica Mars

18 March 2014 by Jess

Confessions first: I have never seen a single episode of the original Veronica Mars series. But I love Kristen Bell, and the premise seemed like something I would have watched had I known about it when it was on – plus I loved the idea of a Kickstarter campaign for a movie for a series […]

Review: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

5 January 2014 by Jess

Weird title, indie movie, you may not have even heard of it, or if you did, you thought it sounded ridiculous and didn’t even bother checking into it. I don’t blame you. Well, that’s not true. I sort of do. If you didn’t even look far enough to find out that it starred two of […]

Review: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

17 September 2013 by Jess

Leave it to Steve Carrell to make me fall in love with movies all over again. I was so surprised by my reaction to this movie – I knew it would be good (Keira Knightley doesn’t make bad movies) but I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was. The movie centers on […]

Review: Irresistible

12 September 2013 by Jess

I had never heard of this movie until I found it on Netflix. It sounded interesting and it has some great actors in it, so I thought I’d give it a shot. The movie focuses on Susan Sarandon’s character Sophie and her relationship with her husband played by Sam Neill. It progresses from her quiet […]

Review: An Education

22 August 2013 by Jess

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, Carey Mulligan is awesome at what she does. It’s no surprise she got an Oscar nod for the role in this movie. In An Education, she plays Jenny, a high school girl who thinks she’s ready for adulthood. She meets David (Peter Sarsgaard) early on in her […]

Review: The Great Gatsby

20 June 2013 by Jess

I GOT IT WORKING!! If you’re following over at Still Insists, you may remember I mentioned how I shot a video review of the film, but it was showing up weird on YouTube, so I hadn’t posted it yet. I finally figured out what was wrong and it looks like it’s supposed to now. I […]

Review: All Good Things

18 February 2013 by Jess

I love Ryan Gosling. Who doesn’t? I have missed seeing Kirsten Dunst, and this is one of the more prominent movies she’s been in over the last couple years, so I thought I’d see it. Mistake. This movie moved WAY too slowly for me to get into it. I had to watch it several sittings […]

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
