Review: Now You See Me

Incredibly, I didn’t hear about this movie until about a week or two before it was released. I wasn’t sure about it until I saw Morgan Freeman go on The Daily Show to promote it. He didn’t spend much time talking about the movie, but it convinced me to give it a shot.

I’m happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. I like Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, and Mark Ruffalo, so the cast was an easy sell.

But a movie about magic? Like, modern magic? Magic usually doesn’t play except as a sidenote, like Barney Stinson’s tricks on HIMYM. I loved The Prestige, but how do you make a modern movie about magic shows without having it come off cheesy?

By turning it into a caper film! This was not only a brilliant comedy, but the magic itself is part illusion, part con, and part pickpocket. It’s a lot of fun, start to finish, and it has a bit of a twisty ending that makes it even better.

The romantic pieces were a little predictable (ok, REALLY predictable), but I was all right with it. The Robin Hood theme was what made the movie most enjoyable I think. They weren’t con artists out for revenge or personal gain, though they gained plenty of both. They were just curious, and their curiosity led them to do good for others through their talents.

I don’t want to get into any of the illusions or too much about the plot because it will give too much away, but the actors have great chemistry and the story never gets dull. I especially liked the newcomer, Dave Franco (why yes, he is James Franco’s brother), though he doesn’t get as much screentime, he’s very entertaining.

5-starsOverall, it might be the best original comedy film I’ve seen this summer so far. Definitely worth checking out.

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of hurt. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile disfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an hard-on suitable for intercourse. Having erectile dysfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to emasculation. Some of medications fuel wish. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
