Review: For a Good Time, Call…

I have a feeling that because of some of the subject matter, this one flew way under the radar. So unfortunate, because it was hilarious.

The press and social media and everybody and their mother, it seemed, made such a big deal over Bridesmaids and yet a movie like this hardly makes a peep.

The movie focuses on two girls, Lauren and Katie, who move in together and start up a phone sex line business. Katie (Ari Graynor, whom you may know from movies like What’s Your Number? and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) has already been operating a phone sex line on her own, but she is a bit naive about business sense, and Lauren, who has plenty of business savvy, decides to help out and make some extra money in the meantime.

However, while dirty talk is natural for a sexy girl like Katie, Lauren has to practice and get the hang of it before she can participate in that portion of the business. The big surprise comes when Katie reveals that, despite her reputation and her incredible phone sex skills, she is still a virgin, having been scared/scarred by something her cousin told her when she was a kid.

It becomes a pretty elaborate business for having only two operators, and the girls are making money faster than you can say “orgasm”. While Katie begins to make friends with one of their clients, Sean, who happens to live locally, Lauren still plans on getting her dream job at a publishing company.

In spite of the fact that the phone sex business is there for pure humor and innuendo options, it actually is a really sweet story about platonic love and friendship between two girls who realize they are perfect for each other–BFFs in the truest sense. There is of course, a romantic subplot with Katie’s virginity at the center, and also a story about finding oneself and one’s confidence on the road to adulthood as Lauren comes out of her shell and learns to embrace parts of herself she didn’t know were there.

The girlfriend camaraderie reminded me a bit of The Sweetest Thing, which was a bit more of a romantic comedy, but the friendship between the women ran deep, and it does in this movie as well.

4-starsDefinitely intended for a slightly more mature audience, with orgasm noises, sex talk, and dildos everywhere as the movie progresses, it’s still fun, sweet, and hilarious in spite of all the raunch, and admittedly at times because of it.

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile disfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an hard-on suitable for intercourse. Having erectile dysfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to impotency. Some of medications fuel will. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
