Wednesday Pasts, Proposals and Psychology and Thursday Pageants and Succession

28 January 2014 by Jess

The Tomorrow People

Kara’s past comes back to haunt her as one of the first Tomorrow People she met is back in town and on a tear. The guy has no intention of laying low, and now that Kara has her own crew of Tomorrow People behind her, he wants to test her after seeing how weak she was when he knew her.

Steven has to temper the attitudes of his colleagues at Ultra as they all start to worry about getting cut from the program and having their powers revoked. He works with Kara to bring down her former mentor, Julian, but it’s actually the little girl they rescued from the Citadel who shows her strength and brings Julian and his people to submission.

Nothing more on Steven’s mother’s new boyfriend, but I expect more shall be revealed soon.

Men at Work

Tyler has made friends with a gay billionaire, and the others start to wonder if the man has ulterior motives. Otherwise, what else would he be doing with Tyler?

As it turns out, the man wasn’t after Tyler for anything more than friendship, but he did get a sense about Gibbs…

Neal has finally decided when to propose to Amy, and Gibbs and Milo throw in to help him get it just right, recreating the circumstances under which they first met. However, when Neal finally pops the question, Amy turns him down.

Neal tries to find out why, and Milo offers up a possible explanation based on something he said to Amy just a few days earlier. Of course, that wasn’t the only reason Amy said no, but it got her thinking about how she hasn’t ever lived on her own and created her own identity separate from her family and from Neal.

It’s a little heartbreaking to see this, especially considering how long she and Neal had been together, but it’s understandable. I suspect that once she’s had some time to herself, she’ll be ready to recommit.

It could be another season for that, or she could be leaving the show altogether, but in the meantime, I hope another romance crops up.

Chicago PD

Though the intelligence unit isn’t directly involved in Severide’s sister’s kidnapping, Lindsay is trying to stay abreast of any progress and, inevitably, becomes the shoulder for Kelly to cry on when no such progress has been made.

Ruzek has to face the fact that his bullet in the line of duty killed a man, and though he seems mostly fine about it, the police therapist and his fiancee are troubled, both by his use of his weapon and by the fact that he doesn’t seem overly concerned that he had to use deadly force.

Voight is busy trying to get a kid out of a life of crime, but the gangster who wanted to bring the kid in is being a hard case. Of course, we know what Voight likes to do with hard cases. The guy gets the message soon enough, and the kid gets to make his escape.

The Michael J. Fox Show

Mike gets to go to Sochi for the Olympics for work, while Eve and Annie go to battle over another permission for Eve to do something. Eve claims she is going to try out for a beauty pageant, and Annie tells her to go for it. Neither of them really want Eve to do it, but once Eve starts and sees how the other girls treat her, she decides to give it a real try and shove it in their faces.

Annie too sees how they treat her daughter, and her, and decides to help Eve beat them. It turns out to be a decent bonding experience, and Eve even wins, but after that, she throws in the towel.

Mike has to go to Sochi with Susan, and though at first, they try to battle for who gets the lead, they eventually retract their claws and try to work together. But when Mike realizes what he’s missing back home, get hands over his pass to Susan, who takes it without looking back, and gets on a plane back home just in time to see Eve win her pageant.

Also, there’s a “ghost” in Leigh’s apartment which Ian desperately wants to disprove, but it didn’t amount to much.

Reign

What a crazy turn of events! Last time, Mary was leaving the castle and Francis for Scotland, with Bash at her side. The pair don’t get very far before Francis’s men find them and bring them back. Bash is imprisoned for treason, while Mary tries to convince the king, and Francis, of her true intentions for running away.

The king still has his eye set on England, and after Mary learns of the correspondence between her mother and the king, she changes her tune and devises a new plan to bring France, Scotland and England together. She will marry the king’s son, but only if it is Bash. He will have to follow through on his mistress’s plan to legitimize Bash, and then Mary will wed the newly titled next king of France.

Neither Catherine nor Francis is willing to accept this new proposal, as it means both of them would lose their power and status, and for Francis, it means giving up the woman he loves. However, the king is all over Catherine, knowing she may plan something drastic in order to avoid changing the line of succession and ousting her as an illegitimate queen, and he locks her away while he travels to Rome to discuss Bash’s legitimization with the pope.

It comes to light that the castle “ghost”, the one who has been “helping” Mary, is responsible for Ailey’s death (the blond girl who was one of Mary’s ladies in waiting), and causing Nostradamus’s prophecy to come true. It’s still unclear, to me at least, exactly what her motives are, but it seems Nostradamus has discovered her intentions and will keep a closer watch on her.

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
