Enlisted
The pilot for this episode has been pushed so many times, I was starting to wonder if it fell through altogether.
SOOOO glad they finally showed it to us! It’s not the best new comedy I’ve seen this season, but it was pretty fun.
The story centers on three brothers, two of whom I know you’ll recognize: Geoff Stults (Wedding Crashers), who plays Pete Hill, Chris Lowell (Private Practice), who plays his brother Derrick and Randy Hill is the youngest. They were very close when they were younger, and they grew up with a military dad, so of course, the boys all wanted to do the same when they got old enough.
Pete was the only one who really made it, though. He got sent to Afghanistan and built up a solid record, but when a weaselly colonel decides not to send him back-up, he punches him, and gets demoted and sent back to the States, to the same Rear Detachment (read: loser) unit as his brothers.
At first, Pete is angry and just wants to hold it together long enough to get reinstated and sent back overseas, but after spending some time with his brothers and the people in his new unit, he wants to do a good job and it will be nice to spend time with his brothers again.
The unit Pete’s running is a pretty motley crew of weirdos, overweight soldiers, his dopey, overzealous youngest brother Randy, and his problem with authority middle brother Derrick. But it’s a fun group, entertaining, and I know they’ll keep Pete on his toes.
Overall, it’s a fun show to watch. The comedy’s good, nothing too stereotypical or contrived, the family element is great, there are “enemies” and “competition” at the Rear D base to create a little challenge, and it’s a unique setting and circumstances.
Dracula
The vampires are flocking to London at their leader’s call, and Lady Jayne is getting quite busy searching for information on that vampire’s whereabouts. One of them reveals it’s not just any sire, it’s Dracula, and as the episode goes on, Jayne is able to confirm this theory.
Mina is attacked by henchmen of the Order of the Dragon, and though Grayson swoops in to save her, her description of the men helps Jonathan learn who attacked her.
Jonathan goes after the order member for information, at the end of a gun, but in his fevered fury, the gun goes off and he realizes he’s killed the man. Instead of returning to Mina’s bedside, he goes to Lucy, who has by now made her “feelings” known.
As Grayson gets closer to learning who’s in charge of the order, Jonathan has learned who Grayson really cares about as well. Van Helsing seems to be lying about his knowledge of the order, though it’s unclear why just yet. Perhaps he wishes to have his revenge on them first-hand and doesn’t want to expose some of the members’ true identity until he can do so.
Hawaii Five-0
Danno has to let Grace go to her sleepover and cut the cord a bit, which he isn’t happy about, but a pretty girl at the gas station helps him forget about how fast his daughter is growing up. He was actually going the opposite direction, but something about her changed his mind and he caught up to her and decided to let her follow him to the part of the island she was heading to.
Bad luck, she has an accident and as he calls for an ambulance, he realizes she’s been shot to the back of the head, but with no one in her car and no one else in sight, Danno switches to investigator mode to track down the shooter.
McGarrett decides to bring Grover (SWAT leader) along on his investigation when Grover turns up at the crime scene in the first place without being called. With Danno off on his own investigation, he could use the help, and being that the person he’s looking for was friends with Grover, he knew the stubborn Chicago-bred cop would have been out there anyway.
However, while both Steve and Danny solve their cases, and it looks like Danny might have a new love interest, Amber, the woman from the gas station, the biggest and best part is: Kono’s back!! With Adam, I might add. Whatever and whoever. I’m so glad to have her back on the island. It was starting to feel a little too much like a boy’s club and Kono really knows how to round out the crew with her badassery.
Revenge (1/5/14)
The amnesia card? Really? I knew you guys were soapy, but that’s a little over the top.
That’s right, Ems has amnesia and can’t remember Aiden, the Graysons, Jack, or anybody from her current life.
Since Daniel really shot her and she wasn’t wearing a flack jacket or anything, she washed up on a boat and managed to get her tracking device working. Aiden found her, discovered how badly wounded she was, and made the call to make the boat captain aware of her presence so she could get to a hospital instead of risking taking her on his own to a private doctor.
Her gunshot wounds were bad, but she’ll recover. The major injury was cranial, when she hit the cold water after falling from the yacht, and psychological, from the shock and trauma of it all. Which is apparently why she has amnesia.
Daniel is all ready to come forward and confess, even though Victoria is the prime suspect, as she was meant to be. However, Victoria discovers that Lydia can easily become a suspect as well since she does not have an alibi, and instead of allowing her son to confess, she wants Lydia to take the fall. Conrad is sort of on board with the plan, but he wishes he didn’t have to sacrifice his new lady.
Charlotte and Jack are trying to help Emily remember who she was, but they don’t get much out of her beyond the fact that she identifies David Clark as her father and tells Jack that Daniel is the one who shot her.
While amnesia is a pretty lame plot twist, it has served its purpose well. With Emily not being able to remember who she was or what she was up to, it’s created a whole new set of obstacles for her and for her friends who are desperately trying to get her memory back and protect her from the Graysons.

Recaps from Monday night are coming soon, but they’ll probably have to wait to go in with Tuesday’s bunch.
Tuesday night, it’s an all-new Agents of SHIELD, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Trophy Wife, Justified, Killer Women, and Chicago Fire. Since last week’s Killer Women premiere won’t open up to Hulu til Wednesday, I’ll try to squeeze it in then or later this week, but no promises 0.o
