Back in the Game
When Terry’s high school nemesis shows up as Dick’s guest to his Halloween party, Terry’s Halloween turns into a competition. Danny and the team get the better of the bullies, but at the end of the night, he just wants to go trick or treating with his mom.
The Cannon spends the evening at his wife’s gravestone, next to another man doing the same thing. At first they’re combative, one-upping each other, but when a bunch of punks show up at the cemetery, they manage to scare them off.
American Horror Story: Coven
Queenie is recovering from her attack by the Minotaur. Fortunately, Cordelia and Fiona find her in time to bring her back from the brink of death. Both of them realize who sent the creature, but they believe it was to cause problems for them, when it was actually sent after Madame LaLaurie.
When she realizes her minotaur plot has failed, Laveau raises the dead to go after LaLaurie and the rest of the witches at the academy. It’s a pretty grim, but very Halloween-y scene as the walking dead rise from their graves and arrive at the academy door just as LaLaurie has been handing out candy.
We get a glimpse into the past as we learn where the Butler’s silence originated (he cut out his own tongue–at least that scene wasn’t very graphic), his relationship with Fiona, and Fiona’s rivalry with one of the members of the Council. After Nan senses Madison’s disappearance, she summons the Council to investigate. But Cordelia believes their arrival has to do with the new conflict with Marie Laveau and she keeps suggesting new reasons for their appearance until Fiona tells her to stop talking.
The Council begins to interrogate Fiona and the academy over Madison’s disappearance, and though it seems she has disappeared, I think the butler’s allegiances may have shifted to Madison and he may not have cleaned up her murder exactly as Fiona expected. Also, she does have billing as a regular cast member, not a special guest star, so it makes me think we haven’t seen the last of Madison Montgomery.
No Misty again this week, but at least we got a good look at Frances Conroy playing Council member Myrtle Snow (aka Fiona’s lifetime rival)!
Nashville
Juliette and the married man reunite at the fancy polo match. She learns his marriage isn’t as perfect as it appears, and despite a warning from Rayna, she decides to go ahead with it anyway. Because that’s the kind of self-serving hedonist she is.
Rayna attends the same polo match looking for funding to break away from Edgehill now that her dad’s assets have been frozen. Though Tandy is more than happy to help secure funding, it seems some people are already putting two and two together that she may be the one behind her father’s recent arrest.
It seems Scarlett and Avery may be ready for a reconciliation, as they find themselves in bed together. Zoey learns this just in time to tell Gunnar that she’s open to giving things a shot, despite the friend code about not dating/sleeping with a friend’s ex.
Personally, the relationships this season are all messed up. Avery is way more likeable now, but that doesn’t mean he and Scarlett should be getting back together, or even thinking about it. And Rayna and Luke Wheeler? Come on, writers. What do you take us for, amateurs?
The Tomorrow People
A rogue former Ultra agent and one of the Tomorrow People shows up, with a twist. Ultra turned him so he’s able to kill people without the headache, literally. (Just me, or does the Tomorrow People no-kill gene remind anyone of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when the Initiative implanted that chip in Spike’s head so he couldn’t hurt people anymore?)
Stephen and John go after the guy, Killian, but we learn enough about John past to realize this is a little personal.
It turns out he was given the same ability as Killian, to kill without feeling the pain, and that’s why he left Ultra–he didn’t want to be an assassin.
Stephen’s mom is asking questions about where he’s been spending his time, especially since he’s coming home bruised, and he admits he took a job with uncle Jedekiah.
BONUS:
Since I brought it up, I thought I’d share this. It’s a crappy quality, but it’s a hilarious scene. Spike learning he has a problem attacking people now:
