I think we’ve got all the major networks represented! Enjoy recaps from Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night!
Brooklyn Nine-Nine
If you’re still not watching this show, you need to. Even if it’s the next day on Hulu or Fox.com. It’s too funny not to watch.
It’s Halloween at the precinct. Charles is super into it, coming in as Mario Batali (which nobody gets), and he is convinced he can get Santiago on board with the holiday, despite the fact that she hates all the drunken, stupid, costume-wearing people.
Peralta makes a bet with the captain that he can steal his Medal of Valor. If he succeeds, Holt has to admit Jake is a great detective slash genius, and he has to do all of Jake’s paperwork. If Jake loses, he has to work weekends with no overtime pay.
Though it appears the Captain is one step ahead of Jake at every turn, it was all a part of Jake’s master plan to get a hold of the medal. It was a very elaborate plan and involved everybody else in the precinct to help out, but it worked!
The Tomorrow People
Steven overhears something from one of his classmates, a fellow “freak” who’s had mental issues of her own after her sister died in a car accident. He thinks the girl imght try to kill herself, and goes to the Tomorrow People for help, but they argue that the humans are not worth saving, especially if it means risking exposure of their powers. He goes to Jedekiah and gets a similar answer, can’t save everybody, and he can’t risk anyone finding out what he can do.
We get a glimpse into Cara’s past: how she discovered her powers, how she left home, and how she’s adjusted to life as one of the Tomorrow People (is it right say “Tomorrow Person” for the singular? I haven’t heard them say it on the show, so I’m hesitant to use it…) It’s a sad story, and though she’s better off now, it had to hurt, having her family turn her out the way they did. She’s such a great character, hardcore, smart, and very talented with her powers. It’s easy to root for her, and though Steven’s the main character, I hope she gets more screentime as the show goes on.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
MAJOR twist ahead! Holey smokes!
We get a look at the Knave’s past as a member of Robin Hood’s Merry Men and how he became a thief. At one point, he convinced the men to pillage Maleficent’s castle, mainly to gain a mirror for his love, Anastasia, whom we still know very little about.
Alice needs to know who took the genie’s bottle, and the Knave comes up with a way to do it, a particular magic item called the Forget-Me-Knot, a piece of rope tied to look like a frame that when you look through it, you can see into the past. After he and Alice use it, the Knave intends to hand it over to the Caterpillar to clear his debt. Unfortunately, the knot is currently in the possession of a monstrous character called Grendel who enjoys cutting heads off and eating his victims.
Meanwhile, Jafar intercepted the paper crane note that Cyrus sent to Alice and that she attempted to send back. He and the Red Queen use his weakness for Alice to determine the best way to go after Alice and get her wishes. After poring over some of the most terrifying creatures in Wonderland, they land on the Bandersnatch, the creature that nearly killed Alice during one of her childhood visits.
Alice and the Knave are already in hot water over at Grendel’s house, as they’ve been captured while trying to steal the Forget-Me-Knot, but things worsen when the Bandersnatch shows up. However, this time, Alice is prepared. Cyrus taught her everything about bandersnatches and she knows the best way to face one and overcome it. The Knave kills the best, saving Grendel, who gives him the Forget-Me-Knot.
Alice and the Knave return to the place where Cyrus’s bottle was hidden to use the knot to learn who took the bottle, and are shocked to discover it was the White Rabbit who then handed it over to the Red Queen. However, that’s not the big twist. We as the audience already knew the Rabbit was a double agent, so to speak.
The BIG TWIST is the woman whom the Knave loved, Anastasia: we don’t see her face until the end, and it’s all too familiar. Anastasia is the Red Queen!! She is the one who brought Will (the Knave) to Wonderland through a mirror, and sometime after their arrival, she became the queen, and he a Knave of Hearts.
Also, the Knave burns the knot instead of giving it to the Caterpillar. Though it would have saved him from the Caterpillar, the Knave no longer wants to be a thief, and he wants to find his own way out of his debt.
Maybe I’m easily surprised, but I totally didn’t see the Anastasia/Red Queen thing coming! I can’t wait to see what happens next! FYI: OUAT in Wonderland is off next week. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will be airing during this timeslot.
The Crazy Ones
Simon, Zach, and Sydney are all mad about Helena, one of their clients (guest appearance by Saffron Burrows). Sydney wants to be more like her, Zach starts sleeping with her, and so does Simon. It’s a very awkward four-way relationship, and while Helena takes each of them in stride, they all want to be “first” in her mind.
Andrew has to tame a smug voiceover actor who thinks Andrew is a hippie pot smoker. Though he has no intention of coddling the man, he doesn’t realize that standing up to him is the only way to get him to do what is required of him.
A little boundary-testing with the innuendo, especially between Simon and Sydney as colleagues versus being family, it was overall a fun episode.
The Michael J. Fox Show
Eve wants to go to a concert, and when Mike says no, she makes a bet with him about Leigh’s new dog. If Leigh takes care of the dog herself, Eve can go to the concert. If Leigh abandons the dog, Mike wins and Eve has to stay home.
Though Leigh starts off well enough, Eve ends up covering for her and taking care of the dog herself. In the end, Leigh realizes that she’s actually allergic to the dog and Mike decides to bring the dog home to the family.
Meanwhile, Mike’s boss has an annual karaoke party to celebrate everybody’s birthdays at once, and Mike always comes up with some excuse to avoid going. He didn’t realize that Annie had just been backing him up all these years, and that she actually enjoys karaoke and wouldn’t have minded going.
Knowing now how much she’s supported him, even when she didn’t agree with him, he wants to be a team player and support her. Even if it means pretending to like karaoke as much as she does.
And Ian is trying to frighten Graham into giving up the bigger bedroom by making up a monster, but he loses out when Mike finds out.

More Thursday recaps are on the way, but they might not be finished until later this evening or Saturday morning. Stay tuned!
