Sunday Night Payback and Sisterhood

21 October 2013 by Jess

Revenge

Emily’s plans are unraveling as Conrad learns he doesn’t have Huntington’s, and Jack is fighting his way in to make sure Conrad gets what’s coming to him.

Victoria has hatched her own plans to get the family back on its feet financially. First, she takes a job at a local gallery, and then she has her son try to sell one of their paintings to the owner, in order to set the woman up so Victoria herself can take control of the gallery. Pretty slick, if unsavory.

This was a little fun for me because Kathleen York plays the gallery owner, and I just finished watching all 7 seasons of The West Wing in which she plays Toby Ziegler’s ex-wife Andie. Good to see her again, even if she didn’t stick around long 🙂

Father Paul is dead after the fiery car accident from last week’s episode, and Conrad comes up with a story to make sure he doesn’t get the blame, claiming he wasn’t driving, just as he wasn’t supposed to be. Emily was the first one on the scene and though she believes Conrad was driving, she didn’t see anything to prove it.

Daniel decides to protect his father in order to protect his own reputation, and he gives Emily’s statement to the police before she can get a word in that questions Conrad’s statement. To fire back, she gives a few choice details about Daniel’s past to the magazine, including his DUI. Furious, Daniel doesn’t come home and stays at the inn for a couple nights.

Nolan broke his no-technology rule to look into Patrick. Apparently the guy has a very unhappy ex-wife who spills everything to Nolan for twenty grand, and Nolan returns to the Hamptons feeling a little better about getting Patrick’s allegiances away from his mother. He makes a move, and though Patrick balks at first, we all know Nolan’s gaydar is pretty accurate.

Meanwhile, Aiden is trying to help Emily by staying with the Graysons under Victoria’s permission, but once Conrad discovers he’s not ill, he wants Aiden out and feels he has the strength to ensure it. However, Aiden’s got a couple tricks up his sleeve.

After Emily and Jack look into the car accident, they not only discover that Conrad was in fact the driver, but that the brakes had been tampered with, so it didn’t matter who had been driving. Aiden, in a particularly ugly display of jealousy over Emily’s feelings for Jack, decides to tell the Graysons that Jack has been trying to kill Conrad, and that he may have been the one to tamper with the brakes.

Emily is going to be livid, but I’m sure this will all work as it’s supposed to. The bigger question is who cut the brakes? I have a feeling it was Charlotte, or even Patrick. Somebody you wouldn’t expect, so probably not Jack or Victoria. Aiden himself might have done it, who knows?

The wedding still looms, as does the downfall of the Graysons, but I expect there will be plenty

Witches of East End

The girls are starting to get a grip on their powers, with Aunt Wendy’s help, but Ingrid thinks she’s further ahead than she really is, and attempts to modify a spell to reverse the curse she brought on by bringing Wendy back to life.

Freya is still trying to get Killian out of her head, but it isn’t until Dash tells her about how his last engagement ended that it seems like she can finally succeed. Apparently, Dash was engaged before, and Killian slept with his fiancee, and Killian has tried the same play with almost every other woman Dash has ever been with. Freya buys it and confronts Killian, but it seems there is more to the story than Dash’s claim, and it’s hinting that Dash may not be as squeaky clean as he appears to be.

Joanna is still trying to sort out her shapeshifter problem on her own, but it isn’t doing much good. Wendy is trying to help, but Joanna has to fail on her own before she realizes she needs help from both her sister and her daughters.

I think what I like most about this show is that you can still hear an accent in Julia Ormond’s voice. That’s kind of sad, but it’s entertaining. Wendy steals the show most of the time because even though she’s mostly there as comic relief and a counterweight to Joanna’s seriousness, she’s so fun and carefree you gotta love her. Ingrid is fun too, though it’s going to be awesome when she gets a better handle on her powers!

Anna Camp guest starring on HIMYM tonight!

Sidenote:

While I’m on the subject of guilty pleasure shows, I’ve still been watching Betrayal since it doesn’t interfere with anything, and I have to admit, it’s a pretty fun guilty pleasure show. It’s still not displaying much substance, and the “villains” are a little too over-the-top to be that worrisome, but the romance and affair between Sarah and Jack is really enjoyable to watch.

This despite the fact that I’ve never liked Stuart Townsend, he’s actually perfect in this show. I’m still not crazy about Sarah, who could use a few more acting classes, but it’s a lovely story, even though I generally don’t like characters who cheat on their spouses.

Up next:

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
