Monday Wedding Gifts, Cappuccinos and Old English

15 October 2013 by Jess

How I Met Your Mother

While Barney frets over whether his loyalty should be to Robin or his family, Marshall, Ted and Lily work out a years-old wedding gift debate.

Marshall and Lily are under the impression that Ted never got them a wedding gift, though they’ve been dropping hints that he forgot about it for the past few years. Ted actually got them a gift, and is under the impression that they never sent him a thank you note for it.

Misunderstandings, start your engines. It turns out one of their other friends just ripped off Ted’s gift and pretended it was his. So everybody’s sorry, and everybody’s forgiven.

Robin wants Barney to convince his brother to lay off the anti-marriage talk, but he hasn’t figured out how to manage relationship obligations to both his family and his fiancee.

Though he sides with his mom and brother first, after hearing James’s reason for his divorce, Barney realizes why Robin needs to come first. But then he overdoes it by cutting both of them out of his life and making it sound like it was all Robin’s idea.

Robin had no chance to set the record straight this week, but I’m sure Barney will have some ‘splainin to do next time!

2 Broke Girls

The girls get a cappuccino machine for the cupcake shop, but they don’t have the first clue how to use it.

After multiple scaldings and several attempts by the diner’s staff to get it to do what it’s supposed to, the girls decide to take a job at a local Starbucks for just long enough to learn how to use the machine.

Max starts being annoying right away so she can get fired, but they both fail to learn the machine before they’re asked to leave.

Ultimately, Caroline figures it out, but she takes a few more shots of hot steam before she does.

Sleepy Hollow

A boy comes to Sleepy Hollow, from another time, speaking another language, and with a paranormal plague. The boy speaks an old form of English used during the Middle Ages, and Crane, scholar he is, is the inlet one who can communicate with him.

The boy’s replies lead Crane and Abby to search out the lost island of Roanoke–a place locked in time and protected from the plague that was brought by one of the horsemen.

The plague begins to affect others in Sleepy Hollow, and the boy is quarantined. Crane and Abby learn from the Roanoke people that the boy can saved if he’s returned to the island, but before they can get him back, Crane discovers that he’s been affected as well.

Abby comes up with a theory that it’s the water that can save the boy and Crane, and perhaps the others, but convincing her superior takes a little effort. The boy and the people on the island he came from were dead, all along, another ruse from one of the horsemen to spread the plague and being about the apocalypse.

FYI: The good news is: Hollow has already been picked up for a second season! The bad news is: the previews state that Hollow is on a break until November–presumably because of the World Series. Make sure you log that on your calendar! In the meantime, it leaves us more time to keep/catch up with our other shows!

Up next:

Tuesday night, we’ve got all new episodes of Agents of SHIELD, New Girl, Trophy Wife, and Chicago Fire! I’ll get to Brooklyn Nine-Nine later this week.

Happy Tuesday!

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
