The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon Episode 13: Sunny Edition

8 September 2013 by Jess

Since It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia debuted its NINTH season last week, it’s earned a spot on the Bacon rotation 😉 I’ve decided to focus on Charlie Day, because let’s face it, he’s pretty much the best thing to happen to TV comedy in years.

Charlie Day is actually not my favorite character on Sunny, but there’s no rationale for it other than “I like Mac”. Charlie is not the craziest, the most arrogant, the most ironic, or even the loudest, but his knack for making you agree with his hair-brained ideas is pretty awesome.

Sunny is the first place most people were introduced to Charlie Day, but it’s not the last. Of all the actors (except of course, veteran Danny Devito), his jump from TV to film has been the most noticeable. He starred in this year’s blockbuster Pacific Rim, and in 2011’s Horrible Bosses as a timid employee of an extremely seductive, sexual, and dark-haired goddess, also known as…

Jennifer Aniston! In one of my favorite roles of hers (and I’ve damn near seen ’em all), her role as the sultry dentist in Horrible Bosses was unparalleled. It was unusual for her to take a role like that compared to her previous work, but after seeing her in nothing but a lab coat and watching her “take a bath”, I think the entire world was ready for more like that. Still, it’s not too long ago that she was “the Good Girl”, in a movie of the same name, and a movie called Picture Perfect, where she tried to be bad with our favorite bad boy…

Kevin Bacon! Picture Perfect is one of my favorite films of his. Not because of the long hair, though there are not too many guys who can rock a look like that, but because he was so damn funny! So many of Bacon’s roles are serious, hardcore, and dark, but he smiles, and you can be sure he’s got something up his sleeve.

Results: 1 degree of separation!

Um, yeah, I didn’t even map this out first and it took me about a minute to realize Jen Aniston was the link. Yay me! Of course, Horrible Bosses is chock full of big names, so it’s not much of a stretch to put someone like Charlie Day and Kevin Bacon together with a movie like that.

By the way, if you ever see a way to pare down the degrees of separation and point out how to connect the actor in question to Kevin Bacon through fewer connections, leave a comment and prove your movie buff prowess!

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
