Mad Men
This week, Don gets in some big trouble after he fires the client from Jaguar. He manages to find a way around it when Roger gets him a meeting with someone in charge over at Chevy, but the big problem he creates comes when he partners up with Peggy’s boss over at her firm in order to present an idea from a “bigger advertising firm” in order to land the account.
Joan is most upset at the Jaguar move because of what she had to go through in order to win the account in the first place. Pete is probably second most upset because he had been planning with Bert and Joan to take Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce public. Losing such a big account would nix those plans. But, with Don’s new partnership, perhaps he’ll save the day?
I’m curious as to how the other partners will react next week when Don tells them he merged with Peggy’s firm without talking to them first.
Funny thing: Pete runs into his father in law while visiting a whorehouse we’ve seen before. He confronts him about it and gets strong-armed into confessing it to Trudy. While it seemed they were trying to work things out, that’s out the window now.
Revenge
Emily decides to surprise Daniel at work with dinner and now announces she’s willing to marry him again, including putting the gigantic rock back on her finger. Victoria’s none too pleased, but Conrad is pretty congratulatory about it. he’s still thinking about the election and some good news of an engagement and marriage coming up is probably better press than some of the other stuff that’s going on.
Meanwhile Nolan is trying to track down Victoria’s eldest son but it seems the Falcon will be of little help there. Aiden wants to bankrupt the Grayson now to get Emily out of her revenge mode while he still can, but when Emily finds out, she’s desperate to stop him.
But, too late. He presses the button and the account is drained, but it has another unexpected effect: New York, including the Hamptons, experience a total blackout. The culprit? Carrion somehow went live and shut it all down.
One last little piece of twisty news: Charlotte has a bun in oven. It has to be Declan’s, but it certainly explains her new and unusual behavior. Daniel is the first to know, and with the blackout, it may stay that way for a while.
Next week is the 2 HOUR FINALE so be sure to tune in and find out what happens next with all this crazy power play and manipulation.
Red Widow
It is just double cross after double cross in this FINALE episode as we learn who really killed Marta’s husband: it was her father (or rather, his lackey Luther), not Schiller. When we left off last week, Marta was preparing to kill Schiller to get out from under his thumb, and to seek a little revenge for her husband’s death, but upon learning it was her father’s order to kill her husband, she changes her plans.
The Petrov children band together to pull the whole thing off, with Kat screwing the cop, Irwin getting his dad to side with him now that Luther’s planning to leave, and Marta with her brilliant criminal enterprise planning skills, they put together a sting in which they do a gun deal and turn the old man in. However, Luther gets caught in the crossfire, and much to Ramos’s chagrin, Schiller didn’t show up.
But, Schiller’s off doing a deed of his own, with Marta’s tip off about the deal and her new knowledge that he didn’t kill her husband. He goes to Alexandra while the other deal is going down and after a little waltzing around for a few moments, he gives up and shoots her, his men ready with a tarp to get rid of the body.
However, Gabriel was ready to kill Schiller himself, and Natalie knew about it, talking him out of it. Yet, at the end of the episode, when she learns Schiller is still alive, she goes after him herself–Marta didn’t tell her that it was her own grandfather who killed her father, so naturally, the kid is still after revenge.
So, yeah. Double cross after double cross. Not sure if this one will be renewed, it had a very short run, but it seemed to be pretty popular while it was on. I have one source saying it’s already been canceled, but I don’t have another to confirm, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Up Next:
Monday night recaps from How I Met Your Mother, Bates Motel (down to the last two episodes now!), and Five-0 (also down to the final two!).
PLUS: GREAT NEWS!!! THOSE A-HOLES OVER AT A&E FINALLY SET A DATE FOR THE PREMIERE OF THE GLADES!!! I’ve been checking their website over and over for the past six months waiting for a date for the new season and they finally announced it while I was watching Bates Motel.
Can you tell I’m excited? Jim Longworth is possibly my favorite TV detective. He’s got some stiff competition, Shawn and Gus, McGarrett and Danno, Sherlock and Watson, but Longworth really takes the cake most days. He’s so funny, cocky, and too smart for his own good. Anyway, now I only have to wait three weeks for the premiere! Happy dance 🙂
