The Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon Episode 4: Iron Man Edition

6 May 2013 by Jess

So, I kind of forgot about these for a couple weeks there… Sorry about that! But, I’ve got a couple ahead that are going to be a lot of fun to celebrate some new shows, new movies, and new-to-me shows. First up, it’s the Iron Man edition, featuring the man himself, Robert Downey Jr.!

Robert Downey Jr.

The man, the myth, the legend: I am Iron Man. This guy is brilliant. He’s had his problems, but he’s making a hell of a run these past few years with two major franchises in tow, Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes, and working with some of the best talent Hollywood has to offer. From Jude Law to Gwyneth Paltrow to our next Hollywood heavy hitter…

Tom Cruise! I love Tom Cruise, Scientology or not. He’s a brilliant actor, funny, serious, and hardcore. Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise starred together in the surprising hit, Tropic Thunder from 2008. Cruise was nearly unrecognizable, but nonetheless his hilarious self. Cruise has starred alongside many Hollywood greats, from Jon Voight to Jack Nicholson, Gene Hackman to the one, the only…

Crazy, right? Tom Cruise and Kevin Bacon were in the 1992 film, A Few Good Men. They played softball together in DC. Bacon didn’t have as large a role in the film as Cruise, but he was no less memorable as Captain Jack Ross. (Yes, I did know that without looking it up 🙂 I’ve seen that movie a half a dozen times or more because it’s too damn good. One of the first movies that made me want to be a lawyer. Glad I grew out of that, but still, if you haven’t seen it, set aside a couple hours and check it out. It’s a classic. If you can handle the truth, that is.

Results: 1 degree of separation!

WOW! That was easy! Tropic Thunder was a fluke, I was looking for some way to work an oldie in, Natural Born Killers, which Downey Jr. was in back in 1994 as a reporter from the land of Oz. I saw that before I saw any of his newer movies, and that movie made me fall in love with him. He was so darn funny, and the accent makes it that much more entertaining. In any case, 1 degree of separation is pretty good, so I’ll take it!

By the way, if you ever see a way to pare down the degrees of separation and point out how to connect the actor in question to Kevin Bacon through fewer connections, leave a comment and prove your movie buff prowess!

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of hurt. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
