Hawaii Five-0
The Five-0 crew gets a visitor, the crew from a talk show, hosted by Savannah (guest star Aisha Tyler). As news crews are wont to do, Savannah and her camera crew try to get a little too close to the crime scenes, and try to dig a little too deep into the team’s history.
However, the surprise isn’t the murder they’re investigating: it comes at the crime scene when Steve and the others find Wo Fat, dressed as a local HPD cop, lurking around the crime scene!
The episode shifts focus somewhat as they now try to catch Wo Fat and figure out why he’s so interested in this particular murder case.
It was kind of a fun twist to see the team work through the lens of a talk show camera. And, the team does manage to bring Wo Fat in, and Steve managed to avoid seeking revenge and just shooting the guy when he had the chance. It’s been a while since we heard about Wo Fat, so with it so close to the finale, it’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out. Wo Fat is in the hospital, severely injured, but I wouldn’t put it past him for another escape.
How to Live with Your Parents
Loving the Hot Scott plotline! It’s good to see Sarah Chalke be her sexy, silly self with a guy again. She’s not Elliot Reed anymore, but that sense of humor is still there. I really get a kick out of the fact that she talks more openly with her parents about it too!
This episode is about regaining the control in your relationship… with your child. Both she and Scott have a more sensitive parenting style and tend to give in to their kids’ demands.
But, after listening to Max and Elaine about her own childhood, and seeing Scott’s kids act out, Polly decides to take back the power. When Scott’s kids resist, she leaves them on the side of the highway with Julian to do highway cleanup.
She and Scott go to the wine and cheese festival that Max and Elaine had talked about, before they volunteered to take Natalie for the day. However, they all manage to end up at the same place, Scott and Polly enjoying their adult time, while Max and Elaine try to find Natalie when their balloon-on-the-wrist trick didn’t help them keep track of her while they enjoyed themselves.
Possibly the funniest non-plot point was the shirt Polly wears through the episode, a nod to an old Seinfeld episode 🙂
Chicago Fire
Last week, we saw Hallie return, and this week, predictably, she and Matt are already back together. It’s hard to switch off those feelings for an ex, especially when you didn’t really get closure, so again, not surprising.
Meanwhile, Severide is under a microscope as the allegations against him from the EMT trainee, Tara, intensify. Bad luck for him, the office girl he slept with a while back, Nikki, has also come back to haunt him, or rather her father has.
Since he’s a main character, I find it hard to believe that he’d do any jail time for this whole thing, but still, it’s really frustrating to watch because we knew he didn’t do it, and we also know–he doesn’t have to. He’s not that kind guy, ladies’ man as he is, he’s still respectful, for the most part.
Molly’s is doing great business opening night, but the bar goes silent as Voight and a few buddies walk in. He says he’s there to apologize, but the guy’s a scumbag–I don’t think anyone can really feel comfortable taking him at his word.
Nashville
Big stuff happening here–we all knew Dante was trouble, but we finally realize just how much trouble as this plays out.
Deacon, having had enough lip from Juliette, decides to quit after the tour leaves Nashville. And Juliette starts househunting with Dante–a little quick, no? At least she was married to Sean the last time I said that! Her mother tries to throw a wrench in it all, but this time, mama was right. She had followed Dante to a meeting with the realtor, and saw him kissing her. But when she comes to tell Juliette about it, Juliette rebuffs her and Dante demands she be taken back to rehab.
However, when Juliette finds a bag of pills in her mom’s bag, she realizes that she was telling the truth. The pills were a plant, because her mom is allergic to those particular drugs and wouldn’t choose them if she were using again. At the same time, Dante’s gone missing with the money that was supposed to be paid to the band, and nearly a half a MILLION is gone from Juliette’s corporate account.
While she probably could get out of the house deal she was going to sign, she decides to buy it anyway, as a reminder that people aren’t to be trusted–no matter how good in bed they are.
Rayna and her father make up, but Teddy and Peggy are on the rocks as he confronts her about the leak to the tabloids. Newly separated and on the prowl, Rayna goes straight to Liam, Deacon being otherwise occupied, but it doesn’t stick. She tells Deacon the truth, that she’s always been in love with him, and they reunite.
Predictable, but I kinda liked Liam a little better, and I liked Deacon with Stacy. I believe we’re down to two episodes now, so what other drama can they possibly stir up with the Deacon/Rayna thing sorted and the Dante thing wrapped up?
Up next:
Still getting to the Sunday episodes. Hope to have them up today, but Tuesday at the latest.
