Happy Endings “The Incident”
Penny borrows Dave’s truck to move some of her stuff (not sure how they pulled that off with all the kitchen stuff in there, but I’ll grant it) and it gets stolen. They try to track it down and find out that the guy who stole it is using it to sell sandwiches in the same neighborhood.
Meanwhile, Max accidentally-on-purpose starts a fight between Jane and Alex with some gossip he got from their mutual hairdresser. Brad has to go all the way to the top of the Kerkovich family tree to get them to work it out, with some dresses and dancing from the old country.
Happy Endings “Bros Before Bros”
A take on Romeo and Juliet goes on when Dave feuds with a fellow food truck owner and Max and the food truck owner’s son get together.
Meanwhile, still planning her wedding, Penny decides to call her father whom she hasn’t seen in years. Jane is skeptical of his motives, while Alex is hopeful for the best.
I would say Brad quoting Shakespeare and the food fight at the end of the episode was the best part. I really missed this show–it was off for TWO MONTHS!–but I think the episodes are running out, and last I heard, it wasn’t renewed for next season. Which is really too bad, because this show is freakin’ hilarious. Maybe they’ll move it to cable like Cougar Town! That would be awesome!
Cult
The CW does a pretty good job recapping the past episodes in the first couple minutes, so even though I’ve missed the show the past couple weeks, I was able to jump right in and keep pace pretty well.
We already know that Sakelik is not a good character, not a good cop, but we also discover that she’s the one definitely responsible for the death of Jeff’s boss, and she’s also doing her best to cover it up.
Meanwhile, Jeff and Skye go up to a house they have a lead on from Sakelik, and find more than they were looking for. They find that a cult used to live at the house and that both Sakelik and the woman who lives in the house now were children who were abandoned by the the adult members.
And, Billy gets arrested. The show is in no danger, since he has a really good lawyer, but I’m sure it won’t be the last time his actions are brought to legal light.
It doesn’t look like Jeff and Skye are any closer to finding Jeff’s brother, but the stuff they’re discovering about Sakelik’s past is pretty interesting stuff. Plus, they find out that the car used in the show is also the same car in a photograph they found of the old cult-commune house. That’s the next clue, I think. There’s some connection maybe between Stephen Rae (the show within the show’s creator/writer) and that house…
That discovery reminded me of Children of the Corn–where the kids fend for themselves after killing off all the adults, except here they were abandoned. Creepy. Also reminded me a bit of the recent subplot in Revenge with Emily and her step-brother living in that foster home with a bunch of other kids where they weren’t properly cared for.
Anyway, waiting for what happens next! Really loving the Sakelik subplot 🙂
