Psych
Too bad Five-0 beat them to the vote for the show’s ending thing! That was way too much fun! I loved the movie Clue since the first time I saw it, so seeing it remade into a Psych! episode was beyond cool. Plus, they brought back Lesley Ann Warren, Martin Mull, and Christopher Lloyd, which was also loads of fun.
I was disappointed in the Psych fans though–the butler did it? Come on! Get original! Oh well. (The endings varied by your time zone, but I saw the one where the #butlerdidit.
Still loving the new season though–Henry sure recovered quickly, though didn’t he? I wish they’d dragged that out a bit–they left it on such a huge cliffhanger last season and then took FOREVER bringing the new season back, and then Henry’s better in like two episodes? He went to Mexico with Jeffrey Tambor already? What? That episode was also tons of fun–I’m an Arrested Development devotee, so seeing good ol’ Pop-Pop again was a treat 🙂
The Americans
Elizabeth and Philip had the week off last week, but they’re back this week with more drama. Their marriage has been a little rocky the past couple weeks since Elizabeth found out Philip slept with his ex and then lied about it.
I’ve been rooting for them to work it out, and I wish Elizabeth wasn’t so stubborn! Arranged marriage or not, they have become a family, they’ve become partners. Philip left, leaving it up to Elizabeth to decide on a divorce, but I think they’ll work things out. They have to.
Chicago Fire
Once again, these guys are creating unnecessary drama. The Shay/Severide baby thing? Please. It makes sense that she would ask him, but then proposing Plan B (the cheaper option), it was a cheap play. Now apparently Severide has romantic feelings for Shay and then she’s getting jealous this week about him sleeping with the new medical recruit. Mess.
The firefighter’s funeral for the kid who didn’t make it after being pulled out a laundry chute was nice, but not nice enough to cancel out the unneeded drama of the baby thing.
The Severide/Kasey feud is more interesting, if predictable, and it’ll be interesting to see how they work things out this time.
Nashville
Nashville has been off for a few weeks, but they just had a new episode last week. Just in time to explain the Scarlett/Gunnar hook-up, the Rayna/Teddy divorce, and the Deacon/dog adventure.
Scarlett and Gunnar have their big “audition” for rayna’s new (possible) label, while Avery struggles to accept his label’s take on his music. Rayna’s oldest starts acting out because of the divorce, and Rayna and Teddy are struggling to deal with it.
Juliette is still trying to reconcile her new image with her marketing people and promoters, while her mother works on recovering. It’s pretty obvious that there’s something between her mom’s addiction counselor and Juliette, but it will definitely be a while before anything happens with it.
1600 Penn
It was in fact the finale this past week, with a double episode, a wedding, and a birth. Becca finally admits she loves DB, and DB proves he’s not just a frat guy type working at Old Navy. It was a nice happy-family ending to the season.
This show really makes me laugh, so I hope it gets renewed next fall 🙂
Grey’s Anatomy
Baby Shepherd/Grey is a boy. If you missed that, that’s your own fault. They didn’t make as big a deal out of it as you’d think, but I think a boy will be good for both Derek and Meredith. Meredith’s not a girly girl, and she’ll be glad to have a boy to teach surgical techniques when he gets bigger.
The new ER is great–the fancy 13 second body scan machine, the fancy computerized board that updates ER patients’ statuses. Everybody seems to be in their element, especially the new hospital owners. Cristina especially is enjoying being the boss–she took funding away from the wank head of cardio to fund Bailey’s genome project, as well as to insert herself into the cardio research project.
Meredith takes on a case whenever she feels like it, something she’s always done anyway, but at least now, nobody can get mad at her or fire her or threaten to revoke her medical license for it.
It’s been a long road, watching these doctors over the years, and while I haven’t always liked the direction the show went in, it’s been worth every minute.
Elementary
It’s been off for a few weeks with the March Madness and what-not, so I actually didn’t miss much!
Cult
I don’t know why people aren’t watching this show. It’s pretty good! It has its faults, it’s on the CW, after all, and it’s geared toward a younger audience, for sure, but I like it. Matthew Davis is filling the lead in nicely, and Skye is still a great sidekick.
Jeff is still looking for his brother, and things have gotten interesting with the detective, who seems more intricately entangled in Jeff’s brother’s disappearance and the Cult show phenomenon than she lets on.
Up next:
By the way, as you already know, I’m a crazy writer who does things like write novels in 30 days. In that same spirit, I signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo this month. Don’t worry, I set my sights on 15k words this time instead of 50, so it shouldn’t interfere with the blog this time around, but in the interest of full disclosure once again, I wanted to let you know I’m still SUPER busy. I’m still doing book promotion stuff too, but I have no intention of disappearing for almost a month again.
CBS is off this Monday, so it’s just new episodes of The Following and Bates Motel.
Tuesday is the finale for The New Normal, as it’s an hour block and it looks like (judging by the episode title) that the baby is coming! It’s also the finale for Justified, but Smash is carrying on for now as usual.
Wednesday, we have new everything, Psych, Chicago Fire, The Americans, Nashville, and the premiere of How to Live With your Parents for the Rest of Your Life. I’ve never been a big Sarah Chalke fan, but she does have her truly brilliant, wonderfully hilarious moments. However, I do love Elizabeth Perkins, so I’ll be tuning in mainly for her.
Thursday, it’s a little mix-up this week–since The New Normal is an hour on Tuesday, Go On is a new ep on Thursday. New Girl also is taking Tuesday off this week and airing Thursday. 1600 Penn wrapped up last week, so it’s off (I believe) for the season. New Grey’s, brand new Elementary, and the debut of Hannibal, a show based on the third film, I believe, of the Silence of the Lambs collection, Red Dragon. focusing on the FBI agent who tracked and eventually caught Hannibal Lector. Though here, the agent, Will Graham, is Lector’s patient. Should be interesting…
Friday, we have a new episode of Cult, and it looks like ABC finally found room to share those last few episodes of Happy Endings with us, so look for those on Friday night’s line-up!
Last but not least, new episodes next Sunday of Revenge, Red Widow, and, wait for it, MAD MEN IS BACK! I’m super-excited, if you couldn’t tell, so I’ll definitely have recaps of the season 6 premiere next week.
That about does it! Hopefully, I’ll never have to be away again for that long and have to bore you with such an incredibly long catch-up post! I certainly have no intentions of putting myself on such a tight publishing deadline the next time around, but in any case, we should be mostly back on track for the foreseeable future.
