Review: I Love You Phillip Morris

I’m always up for Ewan McGregor, but this was kind of a strange film. Jim Carrey leveled out of his wild antics is one thing, but him and Ewan McGregor playing gay men who fall in love while in prison? And it’s based on a true story?

I was pleasantly surprised. Their relationship is actually pretty sweet at times, and the story itself is pretty entertaining. Jim Carrey plays a con artist, Steven Russell, who doesn’t come out until mid-life, and when he finally gets caught and set to prison for his crimes, he meets Phillip (McGregor).

Carrey spends the entire film trying to support their lifestyle, still through cons, and does so pretty successfully, but they continue to get caught and continue to end up in prison.

The unsung hero of this film is Leslie Mann’s character, Debbie, who plays Steven’s ex-wife. She is so cool about his new lifestyle and letting him see their daughter and she even gets along with his partners. She doesn’t have a huge role, but it seems to be a stabilizing one for Steven, though it doesn’t always last long. He’s his own worst enemy in this one, but the extent to which he goes to prove to Phillip how much he loves him is really amazing.

4-starsI really enjoyed it, but it definitely will not be for everybody. You may need to have that “indie flick” sense of humor, as I like to call it, to appreciate the comedy.

Indie flick sense of humor:

[ihn-dee flihk sehns uhv hyoom-er] noun

  1. The ability to see the humor in something that is not physical comedy, slapstick, impressions, or other traditional forms of comedy.
  2. Often involves satire, irony, dark humor, deadpan/dry humor
  3. Often requires prior character or story-line knowledge to appreciate and see the humor in a particular action, scene, or dialogue

Example: If you like Wes Anderson movies or Arrested Development, you know what I mean.

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile disfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an hard-on suitable for intercourse. Having erectile dysfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to emasculation. Some of medications fuel wish. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
