I was a little wary when I first read what this movie was supposed to be about, but who can say no to the Dude?
Jeff Bridges is a loser who’s spent his life trying and failing at a dozen different enterprises. He finally hits on a million dollar idea–he’ll make a porno.
Partnering up with some of the rag-tag knuckleheads in his little town, including Joe Pantoliano, William Fichtner, Ted Danson, and Patrick Fugit, they dump some money into it, try to come up with a script, some actors, and places to shoot.
As the title says, it’s a movie being made with a bunch of amateurs. The porno movie itself probably wouldn’t have been that good, but they come up with an even better idea when it all falls apart. Patrick Fugit’s character, Emmett, carries a video camera around and films everything that goes on in the little town, and they decide to piece that together and it gets picked up.
Just based on the description, it probably doesn’t sound as good as it is, but it’s a really funny, crazy, ridiculous indie flick that is worth checking out.
