Tuesday and Thursday Comedies: Guest Appearances Galore!

20 January 2013 by Jess

Carrie being evaluated by Steven’s date.

Go On

Ryan tries dating again (and we get a pop-in from Barney’s ex, Nora, from HIMYM, AND Shaun White, who plays a nice guy compared to the dick he was in Friends with Benefits) and it turns out he’s not bad at it.

In the process, however, he ends up hurting Carrie, whom he’s become “girlfriends” with, watching shows together, eating ice cream, making jewelry, etc.

Yolanda brings in these Goal Dolls that her grandmother sends her from Japan and everybody in the group gets hung up on how much the dolls have helped them find the confidence to change something in their lives.

In the end, it’s Lauren who comes through as the better advisor and motivator, and the show has now introduced some competition for Ryan’s affections: the thing with Lauren is still a thing, no matter what anybody tells you, and now Carrie may have a bit of a thing for Ryan.

That one of course is probably not as probable or real–she’s just been spending so much time with him that it feels like there might be a connection, but he’s her boss and she will probably end up with Steven anyway, who’s closer to her age.

Happy Endings

MPG GUEST APPEARANCE! FTW!! MPG, aka Mark-Paul Gosselaar, aka Peter Bash of TNT’s Franklin and Bash, appears as Max’s roommate on this week’s episode and it was AWESOME.

Max’s new roommate Chase (played by MPG) moves in and has a lot of cool stuff, beautiful women coming and going, but the gang puts on their detective hats when they can’t find him. Dave is the only one with any grasp on how to track him down while Alex and Max mutter random investigatory tactics to try and be helpful.

Meanwhile, Jane’s ex Ryan comes to town, and it turns out, Ryan’s a girl! Brad flips out and tries to fight back by inviting one of his exes over, but he and Jane work it out. And, Brad’s ex and Jane’s ex actually hit it off.

Brad: Is everyone a lesbian now? Fudge!

Penny has to hang out with Pete’s friends who are admittedly much less entertaining than hers. She tries to fit in, but overdoes it.

Penny: You guys don’t do pile-ons?

While she doesn’t really fit in with them, Penny agrees that she and Pete (Nick Zano, who we saw as Johnny on 2 Broke Girls, if you remember, and if you think WAY back, played Amanda Bines’ love interest Vince on What I Like About You) can spend time with them when her friends are busy.

Penny [whispering loudly and pointedly]: They’re not buying it!

Don’t Trust the B—- In Apartment 23

June is trying to date again, but Chloe diverts her from Daniel, the first guy she actually likes (Kyle Howard, Bobby from My Boys, and, I totally didn’t recognize him from one of my favorite movies as a kid, House Arrest!). James wants to turn the situation into a game show like The Bachelorette, and they compete for his affections.

It busts, and Chloe has to repair the damage. But, once June has some alone time with Daniel, she realizes they don’t have as much in common as she has with Mark (who James revealed during the game to have a crush on her). They’re still just friends, but it looks like June might be open to the idea of a relationship with Mark later on if he ever decides to let her know how he feels.

Emily is trying to get an education bill passed, but everyone does not take her seriously. They keep talking about her time as a dancer, a brief time before she was a lawyer for fifteen years.

Emily [on the perception of being a dancer]: It’s sex with a pretzel lady!

The stimga of that part of her past means she has to try to win votes from some pretty despicable people including a senator who is so old-fashioned and conservative, he thinks the Civil War ended in a draw.

Skip likes a girl in the mailroom, and he finally gets up the courage to ask her to the ball in honor of the senator. He ends up making a fool of himself by trying to move things along too quickly.

He gets a chance to redeem himself when Emily gets him to tango with her to prevent the senator from voting down her bill.

Skip: A lot of people have told me I’m like a young Fred Astaire… Do you know who that is? Is that a compliment?

We also discover that Becca and the president’s press aide Marshall used to date. From the sounds of it, he was the guy she was trying to get over by having a fling and subsequently getting knocked up. I had a feeling about those two before, and now it makes sense.

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
