American Horror Story: Asylum
Lana gets released and visits Dr. Thredson’s apartment to give him the good news that the police are coming to arrest him for the Bloodyface murders. He presses his luck and she shoots him before the police arrive.
Astonishingly enough, it looked to me like she missed the vital organs and somehow he still dies. She goes to get an abortion and just as the procedure starts, she realizes she can’t go through with it.
As she goes to Briarcliff to get Jude out, the Monsignor says Jude is dead, suicide, but she’s actually pounding her head against the wall in solitary.
With Bloodyface dead, Kit is released, cleared of the murders. He also finds a loophole to get Grace released too. Arden signed her death certificate, so all the Monsignor has to do is stick with the death certificate story and nobody ever has to know she’s alive.
Kit and Grace and their baby return to his house which is a little cluttered and disheveled in his absence, and they discover that Kit’s wife is alive with a baby of her own.
There continues to be talk about hints about the next season. I have no idea. A fantasy magic kind of storyline might be fun, if a little overplayed in this current television market. A sci-fi alien/outer space, perhaps Firefly but scarier, would be fun (that’s my hope, anyway), but another alien plotline might seem a little redundant after this season. A prison setting would also be interesting to explore, but prison and asylum are similar enough that it might not be new enough ground for this show’s innovators.
In any case, only two episodes left this season! We’ll just have to wait to find out what AHS has in store next time around!
Chicago Fire
FINALLY, finally: Severide comes clean and is put on leave. His fracture is worse than they thought, and his recovery will be much longer. He’s not thrilled about it, naturally, but he’ll live.
Herrmann, still struggling to come up with alternative sources of income discovers that his wife is pregnant again with their fourth child, which of course will put a much greater financial burden on his family. Cruz returns, but he’s still a little mentally scarred from what he did for his brother.
Dawson is a little edgy with Mills about their little romantic entanglement, and discovers that Kasey wasn’t giving her the brush-off, but rather was dealing with his mother upcoming parole hearing.
With his mother’s hearing coming up soon, Kasey is asked to explain how his mother got into his father’s house to kill him, a memory he’s not too crazy about sharing.
This show is on a bit of a precipice at the moment: Shea’s injuries and coma didn’t last that long. Dawson and Mills’ little affair is already over. There needs to be another big catalyst to move the story forward, but perhaps that will depend on how Severide handles his surgery and medical leave.

I was a little shocked that Sean actually said yes and married Juliette. She is convincing, but he’s such a traditional, conservative guy, I didn’t think he’d do it without telling his family first. The two eloped, and in turn, cause a bit of turmoil for their families, jobs, and themselves as they try to plan a honeymoon around Juliette’s new co-headlining tour with Rayna.
Rayna has decided to go on tour without Teddy’s say-so, and it comes out clearly that their eldest daughter isn’t Teddy’s biological daughter (meaning she’s probably Deacon’s!). Rayna’s father tries to use the information as leverage, but Teddy knows already and refuses to allow him to drag his children into it.
The big part of this episode I thought was Scarlett and Gunnar. Things have been tense since he kissed her “because he felt like it”, and their songwriting has suffered for it. Avery returns from ATL and tells his bandmates that he has to move on without them.
In turn, they invite Scarlett to sing a show with them that Avery was supposed to do. Since she knows all their songs, and they’re all friends, she agrees. It’s kind of funny seeing her rock out, but she handles it admirably.
Finally, she and Gunnar work out their differences and their music gets back on track. It’s still the best music on the show, and I’m really hoping that eventually they’ll realize that creative compatibility isn’t the only connection they share.
I also wanted to discuss Rayna for a minute because she is really coming into her own. It’s funny to say that about a woman her age, but she’s severed herself from some of the negative things in her marriage. She’s making her own decisions about her music. And, she made her mind up about whatever it was between her and Deacon.
What I’m interested in seeing is how her relationship with Liam McGuinnis progresses (the album producer or sound guy or whatever). They have a connection too over the music. Her connection with Deacon was much more obviously sexually charged at times, but there is definitely something between Liam and Rayna and I hope that when she gets back to her album, he’s still there to help with it and the show explores that a little further.
