Wednesday Thursday Recaps: It’s all Here!

American Horror Story: Coven

This was an amazing episode because we got to see Dylan McDermot return to AHS! And, his character became the most polar opposite of his character in season one that could be possible–the, wait for it, SON of Bloodyface!

This show also reveals the probable mother of Bloodyface’s son–it turns out that Lana got knocked up. Considering how much she hates Thredson, it’s no surprise when she decides to attempt the coat hanger abortion in her room.

I couldn’t figure how the hell she got hold of a coat hanger, but I guess if she and Kit have been able to keep Thredson locked up with no one knowing, she could probably find someone with a coat hanger.

Unfortunately, it seems not to have worked, because Sister Mary Eunice (still possessed) touches her stomach and tells her it’s still there, and you know what, it’s a boy!

Meanwhile, Arden discovers that Kit may be the connection in the UFO/alien visitations, and specifically, Kit’s offspring, with both his wife and Grace as mothers. Arden and Kit attempt a pretty scary experiment in which Arden plans to kill Kit to draw the aliens back, and then revive him before it’s too late.

There are a lot of unanswered questions at the end of this episode, and according to this interview with the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, many questions should be answered, as well as (SPOILER ALERT!) many character deaths.

Chicago Fire

Vargas finds out that he has to go on permanent medical leave, so soon after he was promoted. The kid, Ernie, sets another fire, but there’s another older man who he calls his uncle involved now. It seems possible it’s a syndicate cover-up or something and the kid is covering the “uncle’s” tracks with arson, but it’s hard to say exactly what the man’s role is just yet.

The crew handles a couple of other rescues and emergencies, but as they don’t follow the personal storylines much, I’m going to skip them.

Casey helps Dawson with a window, and Dawson, at Shea’s advice, jumps on the opportunity to try and seize her chance to get him on the rebound. However, Casey leaves on a call when he learns that Vargas is ready to jump from a ledge.

Up All Night

Predictable, but fun. Ava’s accountant or financial advisor visits and tells her she only has $20 to spend on a Christmas present for the Brinkleys, which she has a bit of a problem with.

Reagan and Chris decide to take Amy up to see her first snow in the mountains, and as could be predicted, nothing goes according to plan. They finally end up back home, snowless, after a very long day.

But, Ava and Scott save the day! Ava comes up with the idea to make snow in the Brinkleys’ backyard and with Scott’s help, she’s able to do it on the cheap.

You know what my favorite combo is? Us. -Chris

The second episode in the hour holiday special is a flashback to Reagan and Chris’s wedding. Apparently they first decided to elope before Chris convinced Reagan to have a real wedding with their families there.

The families pretty much ruin the whole thing, with Scott announcing his engagement and impending birth of his son with then girlfriend, now ex-wife, Chris’s dad forcing him to wear a kilt, and Chris’s parents finding out that he and Reagan were actually living together before they got married.

Still, it’s kind of funny and sweet (after an episode with nothing but problems) how they choose the name for the baby they can’t have yet, but will someday have.

Grey’s Anatomy

Bailey is nervous about her upcoming wedding, and while Callie offers her some terrible advice about it, Richard gives her the best. Still, it doesn’t help.

When Adele ends up in the hospital vomiting blood, Bailey runs to the rescue, in her wedding dress, because in the end, if you feel like running, sometimes you need to listen to your gut and just run.

Lizzie argues with Derek that she’s doing the surgery even if they have to cut open both her legs instead of the originally proposed one.

It’s kind of sad, but so Meredith, that she isn’t excited about the baby. She knows the odds of carrying the baby to term are not in her favor, and she’s preparing herself for the worst–classic dark and twisty Meredith.

Still, there’s a little bit of light at the end of the dark/twisty tunnel when she hands Lizzie her sonogram photo to let her be more involved in their lives.

The best part, Cristina finds out that Owen was only divorcing her because of the lawsuit against the hospital. He wanted to make sure everyone got the money they deserved. But, Cristina offers him her alternative–the day he asked for a divorce, she was coming to ask if they could try to work on their marriage. And? The super-hot iconic Owen/Cristina kiss.

Burn Notice

The gang is still trying to get out of the country and they use Schmidt’s passport guy to get them. Unfortunately, the passport guy is actually a business rival and they don’t want to hand over the passports without seeing (kidnapping Schmidt). However, when Schmidt shows up, he calls the FBI on his rival hoping he’ll get pinched and leave the road open for him to take over business in their area.

Running out of options, Michael decides to sacrifice Schmidt to save the rest of them. Luckily for Schmidt, there’s something Michael can blow up to give them time to escape.

Schmidt figures out that there was no way Michael could have known that thing was there before he decided to bring him out and exchange his life for the passports, but it’s another case of live and let die–Michael’s a spy. This is what he does. Complete the mission. License to kill. Any means necssary. I get it. It’s not pretty, and it’s not a situation I’d want to find myself in, but it is what it is.

You want what’s in his head? Does that still work if there’s a hole in it? -Michael

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
