Sorry these catch-ups are so late. I debated not posting them at all and just skipping to the new December episodes, but decided there were a few too good not to post about. Nano kept me really busy that last, but as you can see from the sidebar widget, I won, so it’s back to blogging.
Unfortunately, everybody is going on holiday break soon (I think most of ABC’s shows are wrapping up their winter finales this week), so the posts will be a little more scattered until the regular schedule returns in January/February. However, I’m going to try to switch to movies during the winter break, so that will be a fun change of pace. Anyway, here’s the first of last week’s catch-ups.
Revenge
The Thanksgiving episode of Revenge was actually a flashback episode. It was really cool to see Victoria’s past, and what made her who she is. As it turns out, mom’s the word. But she was not abusive or alcoholic or condescending or anything like that–Victoria’s mother made her shoot a man so she could get away with murder.
Victoria put in the devious and well-planned effort to ruin her mother’s happiness at one particular Thanksgiving in which she reveals to her mother’s new beau all these horrible stories from her childhood. Also, we find out how Aiden and Emily first met (and how Emily and Ashley first met), but the Victoria storyline was way more interesting.
How I Met Your Mother
Finally, getting Marshall and Lily back into the game after the baby. Yay! (Double bonus: Netflix just released season 7 for viewing and I already watched all of it. Legen-wait for it-dary! Way too much fun. And I had some of my questions answered from having missed it, like how did Marshall and Lily end up back in the old apartment, where did Quinn come from, what’s with the Robin/Barney wedding, how did Ted and Victoria get back together, etc.)
This episode (“12 Horny Women”) was entertaining, because we all knew Lily was a badass, but I think the 12/3/12 episode was a little better. More on that soon.
2 Broke Girls
Because of their big surge in orders from the blurb from Martha Stewart (’bout damn time!) Caroline and Max try to land investors and loans to open their storefront for the cupcakery, to no avail, until Sophie finally comes through with her philathropic side.
My big question is: how is this going to play out with Caroline and Andy having shops right across the way from each other? Sure it’ll be awesome now when they’re all lovey dovey and stuff, but what happens if/when they break up? AWKWARD!
Hawaii Five-0
Vanessa Marcil makes one hell of a villain. She hasn’t been around much that I’ve seen since Las Vegas was cancelled, which is a real shame, because I really miss seeing her brand of badassery embodied in such a tiny
stature.
Watching her play McGarrett in this episode was why this show is worth watching. Some episodes are more average–some don’t have a lot of action scenes, sometimes the jokes are not as funny, but when you have a truly evil, narcissistic and megalomaniacal villain, it makes all those other episodes worth the time.
Up next:
Tuesday’s recaps from last week (minus New Girl) and last night’s new episodes of CBS Monday.
