Reminder, Fox sucks, so New Girl from Tuesday night this week will have to wait until next week when they let me watch the episode! In the meantime, here’s a catch-up on Private Practice, The New Normal and Go On.
Private Practice
New hottie ER doctor. Nuff said. Charlotte has got a routine down for her morning sickness, though as usual, it doesn’t occur on a typical schedule. Addison manages to piss off Sam and Jake in two short conversations. And Sheldon’s pedophile does NOT kidnap a little girl who goes missing from the ER, but Sheldon shot the trust factor thinking he did.
Stephanie breaks up with Sam after she finds out how close he and Addison really were/are, but I really hope that Sam’s break-up doesn’t affect Addison’s relationship with Jake. He is so good for her. Better than Derek. Better than Sam. Better than Pete. As much as I loved Pete. And Derek. I never really liked Sam and Addison together because it was so mismatched with their priorities (having more kids). They basically set themselves up for failure on that one. Plus the whole, sleeping with your best friend’s ex-husband thing.
I would like to throw Mark into the mix of guys-not-right-for-Addison, but I think that Addison and Mark could have made it work if she hadn’t been so dead-set on making it work with Derek at the time. But now I’m Grey’s Anatomy-ing you, so I’ll get back to Private Practice.
Jake is one of the most mature people she’s ever dated. He is the most realistic and the most understanding, which is a big change for her. Part of Addy’s problem has always been her inability to forgive herself, and to have a man who forgives her like that is unparalleled.
On the one hand, I’m really sad that this show is ending. On the other, it’s been a great run and it’ll free up my Tuesdays just a little bit more. And, maybe Addison will show up at Seattle Grace again sometime in the future. We can only hope 🙂
Go On
It’s Ryan’s birthday and the group wants to do a scavenger hunt for him. The twist is that his wife planned his birthday in advance and he ends up in a romantic hotel room set-up with the rest of the group. And Anne does the Cyd Charisse dance with Mr. K, the dance being from Singin’ in the Rain’s “Broadway Melody.” It’s another sweet episode with all the funny tied in.
The New Normal
David and Brian are looking for godparents for the baby while Shania worries that they won’t be a part of her family after the baby is born. Faith is brought into this episode in a positive way, with everyone trying to find a way to incorporate faith into their lives without sacrificing who they are and what matters to them in their lives.
Honestly, when the episode started, I was afraid of a really sitcommy plot, but I shouldn’t have. This show is the most un-sitcommy sitcom out there with the hard questions mixed in with the comic relief. It’s truly a joy to see a show like this–who’d have thought it could get picked up so easily? On network? Unprecedented.
This week:
This isn’t the last catch-up for the week: I will be doing another catch-up for Wednesday’s Chicago Fire, and Thursday night’s Beauty and the Beast, and probably Last Resort, but if I’m feeling ambitious, I may tune in for Last Resort at its regular time and do the recap on Up All Night. We’ll see how Thursday night goes.
