A little late, but I got back to it! Here’s the catch-up for last Sunday’s Revenge and Wednesday’s night’s Nashville.
Revenge
Emily is SOOOOO close to finding out where her mom is! And we find out a little more about the guy, Aidan, who saved her from “the white-haired man” and it turns out, he’s an ex-boyfriend, of sorts. Both he and Emily are on the trail of what the white-haired man was up to, but it doesn’t appear that Aiden realized just how close he got to finding Emily’s mom.
Meanwhile, Victoria is trying to hold her family together, and in the end, that means opening up about her affair with David Clarke. It also appears, after Amanda delivers her father’s journal, doctored by Emily, of course, to Charlotte, that Charlotte and Daniel now know the truth about what Victoria did to David Clarke.
However, they don’t get into the details. Daniel is enraged, but Victoria does her big announcement before he can follow through on the details, and after a tip from Emily, he decides to play it cool to get the better of his mother.
Twists, turns, and plotting abounds as we dig in for season 2!
Nashville
The tension between Rayna and Juliette heats up as they battle over who Deacon is going to tour with. Juliette is too easy on the eyes and too youthful and spontaneous for him to resist conceding to her a few things. However, it’s pretty clear that his loyalty and affection for Rayna and their music runs deep.
The tension between Scarlett and Gunnar also heats up as Watty/Whitey Wyatt (Powers Boothe–can’t tell what they’re saying because of the accent) offers to record a demo while Scarlett’s boyfriend Avery is still trying to get his band noticed, creating jealousy of both her musical achievement and a suspected infidelity of her working with another guy.
Love triangles seem to be the theme: Avery-Scarlett-Gunnar, Juliette-Deacon-Rayna, Deacon-Rayna-Teddy. It’ll be a while before anything definitive happens in any of them, but with everybody’s blood up about a record deal, a tour, an election, etc., I don’t think a happily ever after is going to play out very easily.
As to the music, I think it’s about the same level and frequency, but the slow, love songs are much more preferable to the pop/country crap that Juliette does at the beginning for her music video. I’m still curious, though I haven’t looked into it, as to whether Hayden Panettiere does her own singing.
I am almost positive that all the other actors do, including Connie Britton who has a lovely voice, but Juliette’s sound seems a little higher pitched than Hayden can handle. Still, you never know–maybe she does have the lungs for it 🙂
Up next:
A catch-up on Thursday’s episodes of Last Resort, Up All Night, and Grey’s Anatomy will come soon. Following that will be a post on Beauty and the Beast and Elementary. I didn’t get home in time to catch Thursday’s episode of Sunny, so I’m going to try and catch the encore on Saturday. Depending on how quickly I get caught up, that recap might go in with the Beauty and the Beast/Elementary post or with the Sunday night catch-up of Revenge. We’ll see.
Just because I’m behind doesn’t mean you have to be!
Keep up with your favorite shows every night!
