Thank God It’s Sunny in October

12 October 2012 by Jess

Since my “Sunny” section is so extensive, I’m going to cover it and Chicago Fire today, with another post on Up All Night, Last Resort, and Beauty and the Beast later.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I believe this is the first cable television show to appear at Always Happy to Entertain You this season, and I’m so pleased to share it!

I’ve been watching this show since the beginning whenever I can, though bedtimes, airtimes, and lack of cable TV service have prevented me from seeing a few episodes from time to time. It is always the ridiculous, horrifyingly inhuman, crazy antics of these wonderfully funny people that makes me return every year.

Dennis and Dee have to decide whether to pull the plug on Pop-Pop, their granddad who is on life support in the hospital. Meanwhile, Charlie and Mac are trying to find a German Shepherd painting they believe may be an “original Hitler”.

As usual, things get weird. Dennis and Dee aren’t sure if they can walk around with the weight of having essentially killed their Pop-Pop, so they want to witness a euthanization of a kennel dog to see if they can live with that first. Mac and Charlie are tracking this ugly dog painting all around town, only to end up burning it. The twist is that the painting, as it burns, reveals a signature by none other than Adolf Hitler.

It seems like an unusual and unfunny plotline in summary, but if you have never seen this show, check your listings for FX and search for “sunny”. It’s a comic gem in a world of lackluster sitcoms. If you can handle the raunch, immorality, and lack of empathy that all of the characters so often display.

Chicago Fire

Ok, WHY didn’t NBC sell this show on the fact that Dr. Chase of Fox’s House has a lead role? I still probably would have watched Nashville on premiere night, but Jesse Spencer is a much better reason to watch this show than anything else they’ve done to sell me on this show! I almost didn’t recognize him because he’s doing an American accent rather than the Oz I’m used to.

Other familiar faces include David Eigenberg, aka Steve from Sex and the City, and Lauren German, who had a pretty long run on Hawaii Five-0 last season. I wasn’t a fan–I didn’t feel like she fit into the team, but I like the role she has on this show.

What surprised me about Chicago Fire was that it’s actually a pretty decent show. Drama, rivalry, interesting characters, and of course, can’t forget the good-looking people. I’m not crazy about the other team leader (?) firefighter, Kelly Severide. I don’t know if they’re trying to make him unlikeable or what, but he definitely is not the guy you root for if your other option is Jesse Spencer, aka Casey, who seems like a nicer, more relatable character.

While it doesn’t quite have the depth to it that Nashville had, I think that might be because it has so many more major or mid-level characters to tell about rather than that the characters have no depth. I assume that as time goes on, they will be rounded out a little more.

This week:

Because of the debate and network scheduling blitz, look for coverage of Last Resort, Up All Night, and Beauty and the Beast (if the CW has it up online tomorrow) in a post later or Saturday.

That’s it for this week’s run. I did see Conviction recently, and I’d like to review it here, but I need to find some time to give it the proper attention.

Looking forward, we’ve got ABC Sunday with brand new Revenge! What will Emily Thorne do next? We’ll have to watch to find out!

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile dysfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an hard-on suitable for intercourse. Having erectile disfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to emasculation. Some of medications fuel will. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
