Psych – Have A Giggle

21 October 2011 by Jess

If you haven’t been watching Psych! for the last few years, you have seriously been missing out. Not only is it funny, but it’s nerdy and silly and really great at pop culture references from the 80s and early 90s. If there’s one thing I love, it’s obscure pop culture references that only dorks like me know. Shawn and Gus are one of the best “buddy” comedy pairings in television history.

The premise of the show is that Shawn is actually a guy with a photographic memory who uses his ability to complete the pretense of being a psychic to help the Santa Barbara Police Department solve murders. Because his dad was a cop, Shawn has always wanted to be involved in criminal justice. Also, with a father in law enforcement, he has been trained to use his ability in such a way that he can pick up on signs (evidence) so small that only someone with a photographic memory could notice and remember something like that, and then use that evidence to create a theory about the murder that propels the investigation further, eventually resulting in solving the case.

It almost sounds like another cop drama, but it absolutely is not. The fake psychic thing aside, Shawn has a partner/best friend that keeps his zany suspicions and somewhat outlandish actions and ideas in check: Gus–short for Burton Guster. Gus is Shawn’s complete opposite. He’s neat, responsible, on-time, considerate, and law-abiding, while Shawn is disheveled, occasionally reckless, chronologically challenged, capricious, and avoids certain aspects of the law when they stand in the way of his solving a case. Gus isn’t just the sidekick that reins in the loose cannon that is Shawn Spencer, though. He is smart, and due to his other job as a pharmaceutical salesman, he often is able to contribute his knowledge of medicine and drugs when they happen to play a role in the murder. He also has the Super Sniffer, and his blue hybrid Yaris, aka Blueberry, is the primary mode of transportation in the show.

Do yourself a favor and tune in on Wednesday on USA. This isn’t a show you need to really know much of the back-story to be able to get into it, unlike Arrested Development (another awesome, hilarious show for another day).

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile dysfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an erection suitable for intercourse. Having erectile dysfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to impotency. Some of medications fuel desire. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
