Why I’m Going to Keep Watching Charlie’s Angels on Thursdays Instead of Whitney

3 October 2011 by Jess

Thursday nights have always been crowded. Depending on the time of year, you have everything from Burn Notice and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia to Grey’s Anatomy and The Office. This fall has been especially challenging, as NBC’s new Prime Suspect is tough competition for Private Practice. I am loyal to Kate Walsh, despite what all the “Roast of Charlie Sheen” roasters might say about her medical drama. But Maria Bello’s new police drama is amazing. It’s serious with just the right amount of comic relief. Bello is brilliant as always, and it’s wonderful to see Aidan Quinn on regular programming. But there’s major competition on Thursdays because some channels have the comedy block and some have nothing but dramas. ABC is all drama, while NBC has mixed it up with comedy first, and then drama later.

I, for one, am going to be sticking to ABC for the first block of shows. Charlie’s Angels, although it may be yet another reboot of an old TV series, is pretty cool, and it definitely beats out the over-hyped, under-whelming Whitney for several reasons.

The Angels are way more appealing than Whitney. Not only did they cast three very attractive women to play the classic trio, but the storyline isn’t even that outdated or overplayed. Whitney, on the other hand, has got an entire cast full of unknown actors with none of them really standing out to pull you in, either by attractiveness or comedic merit.

The Angels bring you action, suspense, drama, and a laugh here and there, without becoming too campy or unrealistic. Whitney is another relationship sitcom, focusing on the same overplayed and overanalyzed relationship issues. While this plot could work, the show puts no interesting spin on it, making it lackluster and uninteresting. Granted, Whitney does have its moments, but overall, it’s just not funny enough to make me switch over from ABC for a half hour before Grey’s Anatomy.

For a new television show to win me over, it has to be more than just something to have on in the background–speaking of which, Terra Nova may be on its last legs on my watchlist…

What do you think? Is your Thursday night line-up all shook up or are all the new shows just not worth it?

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of hurt. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile dysfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an erection suitable for intercourse. Having erectile malfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to impotence. Some of medications fuel wish. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
