Friday Nights Are All Right

1 October 2011 by Jess

Fridays have little to offer someone like me in terms of television programming. There are things on that other people like, Kitchen Nightmares, CSI: New York, Blue Bloods, Supernatural, but generally, I choose Friday nights to do things other than sit in front of the TV because I just don’t like those shows. The only show I watch on Fridays is Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO.

Although premium channels are expensive, I think they are totally worth it if you can afford them. (I’m getting mine as an intro/sign up deal for free right now.) A lot of the programming on HBO, Showtime, Starz, and Encore is definitely worth the splurge if you enjoy dramas that are a little out of the ordinary. Most shows have good actors, or at least popular ones, and a lot of them have a decent storyline or dynamic characters, but HBO shows give you the full story. On primetime, they have to fade to black when people head for the bedroom, or say “hell” instead of “fuck” when something really bad happens, but on HBO, things can remain a little more honest because the characters don’t have to be censored for a particular audience.

Censorship is one of the biggest obstacles to creativity and free thinking, not only on television, but in general. One of the reasons I enjoy watching Real Time is because the interviews that Maher does and the panel he invites are not all there to push an agenda, unlike other talk shows or political shows on regular or cable programs. People don’t have to stop themselves if they want to call someone an idiot, or an asshole, and they don’t need to worry about being judged nearly as much as they would were they speaking on another program.

On HBO, thoughts, opinions, and images, of both the pretty and uglier sides of human nature and the world today, are uncensored. When we are permitted not only to have an opinion, but share it, no matter how unpleasant the consequences, we can begin back on the path to progress. If censorship is stagnation, and stagnation breeds mosquitoes (i.e. useless, obnoxious parasites), shouldn’t we work harder to continue on the path to progress?

It affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the cause of some types of pain. There are many medicines which give you things you need to be ready on your own terms. What doctors talk about viagra or cialis? It contains Sildenafil. Also known as erectile dysfunction is defined as the impossibility to attain an erection suitable for intercourse. Having erectile dysfunction can no doubt complicate dating. Many men take more medicines later in life and some have sexual side effects that will lead to emasculation. Some of medications fuel desire. Certain far-famed medicaments can mean screwing with your orgasm. What is the most significant facts you perhaps know know about this?

About the Blog

This is a place to share my love and excessive fandom of film, actors, and television. I gush a lot, and I complain a lot, usually not simultaneously.

I share my take on the latest movies I’ve seen (some new, some new to me, and some classics that are worth a rewatch), and a little promotion here and there for shows or films that I feel deserve a little more attention than they’re getting.

So, kick back, settle in, switch on, tune in, or whatever you have to do and join in on the love for all things that move on-screen.
