Enlisted 1/24
Pete gets his own place off the base, the sad trailer park for lonely guys, as he learns how it’s thought of later, and though he wants it to have some time to himself, his team wants to have a housewarming party and get to know him better.
They all get a talking-to about the realities of coming home from war, and they try to give him his space, but Pete also realizes he will be a sad, lonely guy if he shuts them out entirely, so he tries to let them, and especially his brothers, in just a little.
Enlisted 1/31
It’s the big football game on the base, and since rear-D always loses, the Major wants to employ his secret weapon, Pete, to help them do a little better than usual, at least.
Sort of a shocker, Derrick has been seeing one of the single mothers whose ex is at war, and with the kid’s birthday coming up, he wants to do something to help out. She can’t get time off work to take the kid to Disneyworld, and Derrick wanted to step in and make that big gesture, but the kid keeps asking after his father, and Derrick ends up making a promise to try to bring the boy’s dad home for his birthday. Randy jumps right in, because he loves the soldier-homecoming thing, but Derrick isn’t sure he’s going to be able to pull all the strings he needs to in order to make it happen.
The football team still loses, and Pete is astounded he wasn’t able to get them to win, but Derrick does get the win with his girlfriend and her kid, so that’s something.
Dracula-Finale
Had no idea this was the finale. What is the deal with these shows wrapping midseason??? First Sleepy Hollow, now Dracula? I mean, SH is renewed for season two, we knew that already, but Dracula? I was under the impression–probably my own–that the ratings weren’t that great. Maybe it’s going to be cancelled… A few sources think so too, but it looks like nothing’s certain quite yet.
So, the finale: Things got a little crazy.
Van Helsing went all out in his revenge against Browning. Having lured Browning to where he was keeping his missing children, he drops him through a trapdoor only to realize what may be his worst nightmare. The children have been fed Dracula’s blood, and are now vampires, left to feed on their own father. Then, Van Helsing sets the place ablaze.
Harker took some initiative and put Renfield out of the game (not entirely sure if he’s dead, but it sure looked like it), and furthermore, assisted the Order in sabotaging Grayson’s demonstration of his electricity, which ended up killing and wounding many in the crowd. Mina arrives in time to warn Grayson of the impending disaster, but it isn’t in time to stop it entirely, only to evacuate some of the attendees.
Now that Lady Jayne knows Dracula’s true identity, she shows up at the demonstration to attempt a final battle with Grayson. He gloats, naturally, considering how easy she was to fool all this time, but he does get the better of her.
And, Lucy gets her first taste of what it really means to be a vampire. After spending so much time in bed with the curtains drawn, claiming illness, she attacks her own mother. Can’t blame her, it’s what is in her nature now, but that’s the subplot I’d be most interested to see should the show be permitted to continue into a season two.
Hawaii Five-0
This week, we have a classic prove-my-innocence-while-I-hold-you-hostage case. Michael Madsen (Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs) escapes from prison and climbs into the back of Danny’s car, holding him and Steve hostage until they prove his innocence.
Both of them are skeptical at first, but Steve comes around to believing he may be telling the truth and they start looking into it further.
Though it seems he was a little gullible in participating in criminal activity, if not outright about it, they are able to prove his innocence and get something positive for his daughter to remember about him.
Also, Grace gets in trouble at school. She was standing up for her friend and punched another kid in the face, and while Danno doesn’t want her punching other kids, he can appreciate that she was doing it for a justifiable reason.
This kid is turning into a pistol! I’m not completely sure Danny can handle her on his own for too much longer. Of course, the rest of the Five-0 crew is there to help, but she needs a more… traditional female role model, shall we say? What happened to the girl from the car accident??
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2/2)
The Vulture is back, and Santiago has a job interview in his division. Perralta is dead-set against it, and tries to show her how great their job is compared to the desk job she’d be taking if she gets into the Major Crimes division.
It was a pretty good day, with guest appearances by Adam Sandler, Fred Armison and Joe Theismann, and Santiago does seem to realize that she likes where she’s at. However, she has long-term plans to consider, while Perralta doesn’t really look at anything that way. In the end, Perralta comes through and tries to be supportive of her, but she decides not to take the job anyway.
Back at the station, with a big deadline looming on paperwork, the sergeant and the captain try to get everyone in the office to be more efficient.
By using Diaz’s anger issues to deter people from taking too many bathroom breaks, moving the toaster oven out of Boyle’s line of sight so he doesn’t take breaks showing people how to cook their food properly, separating Scully and Hitchcock, and distracting Gina with her own reflection, they make a ton of progress. But Holt wants to take things even further–think of what they could accomplish if they were even more efficient!
However, the squad realizes what’s going on, and they put a stop to it.

I’m working on the rest of the recaps from last week. It’s been super-busy around here, but I’m doing my best to stay on top of things.
FYI: the move to the new custom domain is almost certain to happen toward the end of this week! I was going to do it on Friday, but then it snowed and I was unable to travel and meet up with my friend to get it done. The weather still looks sucky this week, but I have a couple new tires now, so I should be able to make it this time! Stay tuned!
